UNIONDALE, NY (April 1, 2003) - The Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Petersburg communities will soon be receiving more comprehensive and user-friendly phone directories. Yellow Book USA has established operations in the Richmond area to publish three separate directories for these communities, effectively ending the stranglehold monopoly held by the phone company for more than 100 years.
In addition to creating new jobs within the Richmond, Virginia region, Yellow Book USA will provide consumers with a user-friendly phone directory featuring larger, easy to read print, restaurant menus, local business ads and maps.
Yellow Book's continued consumer success has enabled the company to expand into more markets, leading to improved results for local advertisers. Building on the phenomenal success of its Northern Virginia, Loudon County, Manassas-Warrenton and Woodbridge Stafford operations, Yellow Book is bringing the same formula for success to the Greater Richmond area.
"We spend a lot of time researching each market to make sure our directories are designed with the consumer in mind, " said Joe Walsh, president and CEO of Yellow Book USA, "We are confident that the residents of Richmond, Fredericksburg and Petersburg, Virginia will enthusiastically welcome the new Yellow Book as their directory of choice."
Yellow Book is the largest independent yellow page publisher in the United States, publishing in more states than any other yellow page publisher. The company prides itself in offering users a more comprehensive, user-friendly and community focused phone directory.
"The Richmond, Virginia area has been lacking a viable, affordable and effective yellow pages advertising vehicle, " continued Walsh. "The addition of Yellow Book as a choice for area merchants will enable them to stretch their dollars and reach more consumers."
Businesses in the Richmond area can anticipate successful results similar to those enjoyed by Northern Virginia Yellow Book advertisers:
"I have been advertising in Yellow Book for two years and I could not be happier with the results. During peak season, we receive 15 to 20 calls per day from our ad in the Loudoun County Yellow Book." - Angela Beverly, owner, Comfort Air
"I have been extremely happy with the results I get from the Loudoun County Yellow Book. As a result, I have increased my business about thirty percent this year. Dollar for dollar, Yellow Book is the best yellow pages advertising in the area." - Harry Street, owner, HP Street Construction Co.
"The results from Yellow Book are outstanding! The day the directory was delivered we began receiving calls and clients." - Sandy Moody, owner, SCM Tax Services
Established in 1930, Yellow Book USA is the oldest independent yellow pages publisher in the nation. In recent years, Yellow Book has made a number of strategic acquisitions and entered scores of new markets. The 2002 acquisitions of McLeodUSA's telephone directory publishing unit and the National Directory Company have extended Yellow Book's presence into 40 states and the District of Columbia, more states than any other U.S. yellow pages publisher. Yellow Book currently publishes nearly 600 directories with a circulation of 71 million.
