UNIONDALE, NY (April 24, 2003) - As in other New England markets, Providence-area consumers will soon have one alternative to multiple yellow pages directories serving their area. The new Providence Yellow Book will cover the same area currently served by three complete Verizon directories, as well as portions of two others. When it publishes in February of 2004, it will offer convenience to area residents with thorough information in one, easy-to-use directory. More than 450,000 directories will be delivered - free of charge - to all area residents and businesses.
Yellow Book representatives meeting with local businesses in recent weeks have received an overwhelming welcome, glad that they finally have a choice over the existing phone company directories. They find the coverage of the new directory and the value that it offers extremely attractive.
The new Yellow Book will include business yellow and white page listings for the entire Providence area, including the towns of Providence, Pawtucket, Warwick, Barrington, East and West Greenwich, Attleboro and North Attleboro. It will complement existing Yellow Book directories in the region, including Greater Boston, Metro West, Metro South and Metro North.
"The entry of Yellow Book into Rhode Island will give residents and businesses a better phone book - one that is superior to any that they currently receive," said Joe Walsh, President and CEO of Yellow Book USA.
The oldest competitive yellow pages publisher in the United States, Yellow Book now publishes in more states than any other yellow pages publisher. Yellow Book USA is an innovative industry leader, producing books that are easier to use and provide a full range of convenient features including larger print, area maps, zip code information, coupons, restaurant menus and a comprehensive listing of community services.
"Consumers are not the only ones to benefit from Yellow Book's entrance into the Providence market," said Walsh, "Yellow Book's advertising rates are nearly half of what Verizon has been charging businesses in the area. The new Providence Yellow Book will cover a significantly larger portion of the area. Businesses can now pay less to reach potential customers."
Businesses in the Providence area can anticipate successful results similar to those enjoyed by other New England Yellow Book advertisers:
- "The results I've received from the Boston Yellow Book within the first month have been off the charts! My phone is ringing off the hook and I continue to book quality jobs daily." - Richard T. Myers, President, R.T. Myers & Son Companies, Inc.
- "A full page ad with Yellow Book costs much less than Verizon and the number of calls we receive from Yellow Book is equal if not better." - Oz Rabinovitz, Best Relocation Inc.
- "As soon as the Greater Boston Yellow Book came out in mid-December, we began receiving calls. We booked 15 jobs for the month of February, the slowest month of our season!" - Eliran Derei, Boston Quality Movers
Established in 1930, Yellow Book USA is the oldest independent yellow pages publisher in the nation. In recent years, Yellow Book has made a number of strategic acquisitions and entered scores of new markets. The 2002 acquisitions of McLeodUSA's telephone directory publishing unit and the National Directory Company have extended Yellow Book's presence into 41 states and the District of Columbia, more states than any other U.S. yellow pages publisher.
