Yellow Book USA to Break Verizon Monopoly in Syracuse Market

-Area Consumers and Businesses to Reap Benefits of Competition in Marketplace-

UNIONDALE, NY (May 3, 2004) - Responding to consumer and business demand for one comprehensive, user-friendly yellow pages directory that reaches all of the Greater Syracuse Area, Yellow Book USA announced it would publish a Greater Syracuse Area Yellow Book.

Residents of the Greater Syracuse Market have not had a single directory source to provide choices and information for the whole area. Yellow Book USA, the largest and oldest independent publisher in the nation, will offer one directory with complete coverage of the Syracuse area, including Auburn, Oneida, Fulton and Oswego. It now takes up to four Verizon directories to reach the same area.

"One directory for the entire area will conveniently put all of Greater Syracuse at the fingertips of local consumers," said Joe Walsh, president and CEO of Yellow Book USA. "Yellow Book's area-wide solution makes local yellow pages usage more convenient and user-friendly for residents by providing lots of buying options in just one book."

Yellow Book's cost-effective rate structure will also open the door for local businesses that have been trapped into purchasing costly advertisements in multiple utility directories. Yellow Book has reached success by providing content-driven, widely used directories with advertising rates significantly less than the phone company directories.

The new Greater Syracuse Area Yellow Book will include comprehensive business yellow pages, business and residential white pages, community and government information, area maps, local restaurant menus, money-saving coupons, zip code information and easy-to-read print.

Business owners in neighboring areas are already experiencing the many benefits of advertising with Yellow Book:

  • "The return on our investment from our Yellow Book advertising far exceeds the return we receive from our other directory advertising." - I. L. Davie, Rehabilitation Services Inc., Binghamton Yellow Book

  • "I have been an advertiser with Yellow Book since it first came to Ithaca. Yellow Book is a very good value. More people use Yellow Book than the other book." - S. Amato, Hair Graphics, Ithaca Yellow Book

  • "We have had a great response from the Yellow Book ads we placed and we are very happy with the coverage Yellow Book offers." - T. Jones, Jones Custom Inc. Motorcycles, Broome/Tioga Yellow Book

  • "Through the years, we have tried many forms of advertising, but Yellow Book has remained a constant. We look forward to more years of advertising with Yellow Book" -P. Yanuzzi, Anthony's Restaurant & Catering, Binghamton Yellow Book

Established in 1930, Yellow Book USA is the oldest and largest independent yellow pages publisher in the nation. In recent years, Yellow Book has made a number of strategic acquisitions and entered scores of new markets. Yellow Book now publishes over 500 directories in 42 states, plus the District of Columbia.
